The SAPO Story
SAPO is a native term used in Ghana to describe a traditional bathing sponge. The women of West Africa historically made these sponges from the fibers of the ‘ahensaw’ plant indigenous to region. West Africans have utilized the botanical sponge for thousands of years and passed it down for generations.
Over time, efforts have been made to protect the sponge unique to West Africa’s rich bathing culture. Thankfully by the late 20th century, the use of the ‘ahensaw’ plant sponge evolved to a modernized exfoliating cloth produced from 100% nylon that provides glowing, radiant skin for men and women of all ages!
